Wiring four speakers in series quadruples the impedance of one speaker. Wiring four speakers in parallel quarters the impedance of one speaker. Below, the diagram on the left shows a 16Ω cabinet with four 4Ω speakers and, on the right, a 4Ω cabinet with four 16Ω speakers.
